Creative Workshops to Indulge in this International Women's Day (IWD)

Whether you are seeking for a new hobby or simply looking to make yourself or your girlfriends a personalised IWD gift this March 8, we have put together a list of creative workshops you can explore!


From customised scented candles to small leather goods, nothing displays effort and devotion better than a handmade gift from the heart. To those of you whose 2021 resolution is to be more creative and to keep trying new things, here is your chance to explore your own interests, make new friends and learn new skills.

Scented Candle Making @ BeCandle
For HKD 360, BeCandle offers a workshop where you can create your own personalised scented home candle from a collection of curated essential oils and decorate it with colourful herbs. They will be providing you with a glass jar but feel free to bring your own container as long as it is within 300ml. The best thing is that you can take the finished candle home on the same day!

Chinese Ink Painting @ Ka Atelier
Ka Atelier offers more than a dozen of Chinese painting classes ranging from the basic Chinese ink painting on rice paper to porcelain tea cup painting and ceramic jewellery box painting in traditional Chinese style. Not only will you learn more about this ancient Eastern, you'll also learn how to perfectly combine it with the Western style. The price for one-off classes is from HKD 380 - HKD 680 while the price for a short course of 3-4 sessions starts at HKD 1,300.

Turkish Mosaic Workshop @ Mosaic Art Studio
Get lost in the vibrant mosaic tiles while sipping your mint tea and enjoying your Turkish delight. At Mosaic Art Studio, classes are offered from Wednesday to Sunday each week, each class taking 1.5-3 hours depending on the size of the item being created. In this workshop, your can make yourself a colourful mosaic candle holder for HKD 320 or a Turkish moon lamp for HKD 790.

Silver Ring Design @ Obellery
For those craving a real hands on experience, you can expect to walk out of Obellery workshop with basic silversmithing skills including annealing, soldering, and texturing. For HKD 880 per person, you will be given 5 grams of silver to craft your very own silver ring. If you are a silver lover, this workshop is not to be missed!

3 Pieces Pottery Course @ Two Parts Studio
Another hands on workshop is this pottery course offered by Two Parts Studio. For HKD 1,500 you will learn the basics of clay throwing all the way to glazing. The workshop consists of 5 sessions of 2 hours classes that can be attended over a period of 2 months. With up to 2kg of clay given to each student to experiment with, you can make up to 3 pieces of personalised items to take home!

Glass Blowing @ Glazden
If you are looking for a more unconventional creative workshop, head to Glazden in Wan Chai for their glassblowing classes. Starting from HKD 500 you can choose to make various items including colourful drinking cups, ornaments, and pendants. For a unique International Women's day gift to yourself or besties, you can even make bohemian glass roses!

Terrarium Workshop @ Bonart
Bonart offers four types of terrarium workshops including workshops for moss, succulent, air-plant and bonsai. Each workshop is between 90-120 minutes long and the price ranges from HKD 300 to HKD 3,900 depending on the type of jar you choose. Through these classes you'll learn how to landscape, decorate and take care of your little garden.

Small Leather Goods Crafting @ Motto
If you are looking to make something more practical, look no further than at Motto. Starting from HKD 380, you can make leather wallets, card holders, coin pouches or phone cases. Other items include bracelets, key chains or even AirPods cases. Add personalised touches by choosing your favourite leather colours from over 250 colours or by engraving a message or your initials to your finished item!
